Cadets “on fire” at recent competition
Local cadets from Cass County Emergency Services District 2 traveled to the Dallas Fire/Rescue Training Center on Saturday, April 28, for a competition that ended with impressive results.
Three teams of four cadets, plus two alternates, competed against seven other departments from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Team 1 included Captain T.J. Stagner, Lieutenant Connor Alexander, Lieutenant Drake Moore and Colton Davis; Team 2 included Colin Alexander, Hunter Brannon, Dalton Croley and Cameron Hardin; and Team 3 included Lieutenant Colton Cayton, Elizabeth Revey, Asa Revey and Anthony Burns; and alternates were Josh Turner and Cyrus Garsee.
The teams won the following: First and second places in the Rapid Dress competition; first, second and third places in the Firefighter Combat Challenge; first, second and third places in the Make and Break competition ; second place in the CPR competition, third place in the Room Search competition; and third place in the Spinal Immobilization/Patient Packaging competition.
Team 1 placed first overall and team 2 placed second overall.
The cadet program is sponsored by Cass County Emergency Services District 2 and consists of about 35 cadets. The advisers that attended the competition were Chief Chuck Weerts, Assistant Chief Eric White, Firefighter David Jackson and EMS Responder Michelle Weerts.
