20th annual Turkey Trot slated for Nov. 18
The CHRISTUS St. Michael Atlanta Foundation is adding a new feature to its annual Turkey Trot 5k: a Community Thanksgiving Feast, complete with a turkey and pumpkin pie cook-off. The 20th Annual Turkey Trot 5k will be held Saturday, November 18 at CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital-Atlanta. Late registration will begin at 9am and the race will kick-off at 10am. The course will start and end at the new Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, located next to the hospital. At the completion of the race, participants and fans can kick their holiday into “FEAST MODE” by attending the Community Thanksgiving Feast.
“The Community Thanksgiving Feast will be so much more than a meal,” said Melissa Kimble, Development Coordinator for the CHRISTUS St. Michael Atlanta Foundation. “We will have amazing Thanksgiving food, live entertainment and activities for the kids. This is a community event, so even if you can’t participate in the 5k, we invite you to join us for the feast and enjoy good food, fun and fellowship.”
The Feast will consist of turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie. All the turkeys and pies will be provided by local businesses and individuals in the form of a cook-off. Prizes will be awarded for the best overall turkey and pie. Children’s activities will include Thanksgiving themed crafts, games and face painting.
Entertainment for the event will be provided by Ms. Holli Bennefield. Holli is an Atlanta native and graduate of Henderson State University. She currently resides in Henderson, TX where she is an Assistant Band Director for the Henderson Lion Pride Band. Holli has been entertaining her hometown with her vocal talents for many years.
