DON T. LATHAM
Dec. 14, 1940 - April 6, 2018
Don T. Latham, 77, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 6, 2018, in a Texarkana hospital.
He was born Dec. 14, 1940, in Atlanta, to W. E. and Bobbie H. Latham. He was a retired chemical dependence counselor, loved mowing lawns, watching the news and talking politics.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his sister, Llelowyn Latham McQuary and husband Richard of Las Vegas, Nev.; nephews and nieces, Kerri Hawkins and Scott Poynor both of Las Vegas; great nephews, Ky and Talon Hawkins both of Las Vegas; and a number of other relatives.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

BESS SIMPSON RAY
Oct. 11, 1916 - April 2, 2018
Bess Simpson Ray, 101, of Linden, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018. She was born Oct. 11, 1916, to John D. and Kate Norwood Simpson in Nashville, Tenn. She had two brothers and one sister all of whom predeceased her.
She married C. H. “Bill” Ray Nov. 2, 1940. They were together for 77 years until he passed away last October. They were blessed with two sons, John H. (married to Wanda Kotch) of Bremond and Robert C. (married to Elizabeth Todaro) of Tulsa, Okla. They have four grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one niece, Chris Townley of Mentor, Ohio.
She moved from base to base during Bill's service in the U. S. Marine Corps. She stayed busy serving over the years as President of the Non-Commissioned Officer’s Wives’ Club and was employed in the civil service in property and accounting in Quantico, Va., and at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. At one time, while in Houston, she even worked for the Houston and New Orleans Railroad.
She became a member of the Church of Christ early in life. One of greatest pleasures was teaching the Bible to very young children. After Bill’s retirement from the U.S. Marine Corps, she opened an antique shop in Longview and ran it for many years. During those years, she became an accomplished porcelain artist, winning many awards. She also became a member of the “International Porcelain Art Teachers” and taught porcelain art for 27 years. She served as president of several art clubs and was President of the Atlanta Art League of Texas.
She was a great lady, a caring wife and mother and enjoyed helping people.
Visitation was from
6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Interment followed at Concord Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.

Freddie Lynn Neese, 71, of Ft. Worth, formerly of Linden, died Sunday, April 1, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 5, at Bear Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Linden.
