Joyce E. Rosser, 85, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, in an Atlanta hospital.
She was born Nov. 20, 1931, in Cass County, to James and Cleo Wilson. She was retired from Family Eye Care and a member of the Laws Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, cooking and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland “Junior” Rosser; sister, Doris Wilson Williams; and her parents.
She is survived by her children, James Rosser of Atlanta, Rana Ball and husband Orville of Maud and Johnny Rosser and wife Milly of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Traci Muirheid and husband Darren of Dallas, Buddy Rosser and wife Renee of Atlanta, Jody Rosser and wife Marti of Atlanta and Cody Stafford and wife Jessica of Houston; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Hanner Funeral Service.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Kildare Cemetery with Dr. John Wilkey officiating under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Lorain Thompson, 83, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, in a local adult care facility.
She was born March 1, 1934, in Dallas, to Christopher and Eunice Burris Kenner. She was retired from Atlantic Richfield and was a member of First Baptist Church of Queen City. She loved Texas sports of all types and played on her 1948 high school basketball championship team.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G. L. Thompson; grandson, Kevin New; brother, Roy Spalding; and her parents.
She is survived by a daughter, Sheri New and husband Roy of Atlanta; a sister, Rosella Sutton of Carrollton; two grandchildren, Scott New and wife Mindy of Rowlett and Alicia Hayden of Benton, Ark.; five great-grandchildren, Carrissa Wallace, Zach New, Zeb New, Tyler Hayden and Jacob New; three great-great-grandchildren, Callie Wallace, Alena Wallace and Oliver Hayden; and a number of other relatives.
Visitation was from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Queen City.
Funeral services were at 3 .p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Queen City with Bro. Jim Looby and Bro. David Baxley officiating.  Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Charlene Bowden, 68, of Jacksonville, N.C., formerly of Atlanta, passed away suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in Jacksonville. Born Feb. 6, 1949, she was the second oldest of six sisters to the late Excell James Lawson and the late J.P. Lawson.
She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1967, and proceeded to Huston Tillotson College in Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1971. It was there that she met and later married Clyde A. Bowden. She was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., volunteering numerous hours to public service. She also worked extensively with her local National Council of Negro Women chapter as the historian. She had a very loving and generous heart and was always giving to others.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Excell James Lawson and J.P. Lawson; sister, Regetta Ludene Hodge; and brother, Wilbert Cornish. 
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Dr. Clyde Anthony Bowden; and their two active duty daughters, Phyllis Norine Excell Bowden, U. S. Army and Dr. Toni Annette Bowden, U. S. Navy; sisters, Ruby Reese, Deborah Lawson, Jeanecia Royal and Jeanetta Lawson.
Funeral Services were at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas.
